The New Direction

The past few days have been somewhat slow because I have been at Hawken in the morning for AP exams, then back to school in the afternoon. Between the two, I hunted through retail stores trying to find the cheapest yet effective shorts for my project. At Wal-Mart I found running shorts similar to the typical Nike shorts with the same small “pocket”. The problem with the shorts is that the piece of cloth sewn on the inside of the shorts barely qualifies as a pocket, it can barely hold a key. I also made stops at Target, Kohls, and Dick’s Sporting Goods where I picked up compression shorts. I was able to finish a few sketches of what the shorts will look like. One of the pairs of compression shorts will have a pocket high up; the other pair will have it lower down. I will take the small pocket out of the other shorts and put in a larger pocket that can hold at least a phone but won’t be too bulky. I have material to sew in the pockets and am excited to start sewing tomorrow!

  1. Annie, I am so impressed with you ambition. I think that your hard work combined with your artistic skills will make you very successful as you continue this project. I also like that you were willing to move to one design idea, the case for the phone, to a gym short with a similar function. That shows true versatility as well as dedication to making your vision a reality.
