And Now the Roof
On the farm, we shifted the focus again to finishing the roof. We had dedicated much of the recent time to building up the ground to be level with the base boards, using dirt from the pond that we dug out and on top of that, sand that we ordered in. To transfer the dirt from the pond, we used the bobcat and carefully laid down the moved soil into the structure and around it. WE then used a tamper (machine that packs down the ground) to level it out. Following this process we laid down a layer of more fine sand that much more easily became level. After using the tamper on this, we used rakes to make sure it was level. On Friday, we received the shipment of metal panels that will ultimately be the roof of the structure. I was assigned the job of going onto the roof to attach these panels individually with screws. All went well and the job was finished this weekend, in time for an event at the farm catering older adults from the recently developed Judson building nearby.
